Why You Should Visit A Chiropractor After an Auto Accident - 3 Signs You May Have Whiplash

Whiplash Treatment Seeking out car accident treatment goes much deeper than treating bumps, bruises, and other physical injuries. Frequently, most auto accident victims do not realize the need to seek out medical treatment because their symptoms don’t show up immediately. When it comes to seeking out whiplash treatment, you may not know what signs to look out for, so we’ve listed the most common signs of whiplash to be on the lookout for following an auto accident.

3 Signs You Should Seek Whiplash Treatment

While there are many different symptoms of whiplash, you should seek whiplash treatment immediately if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms after an auto accident.

1. Neck Pain

One of the most apparent signs of whiplash is neck pain. In an auto accident, whether appropriately restrained or not, your body is thrown forward. If you are properly restrained, then it will also be thrown back against the seat. This sudden forward and back motion cause your neck to snap forward and back, which may lead to moderate to severe pain.

2. Reduced Range of Motion or Stiffness in the Neck

The snapping motion described above can also contribute to both a stiff neck and either a minor or significant reduction in your neck’s overall range of motion. This is a symptom that may not show up immediately following an auto accident. Instead, it will likely become apparent after your adrenaline has reduced.

3. Headaches

Headaches are another frequent sign of whiplash. The pain here is often associated with the same back and forth motion that causes neck pain after an accident. While the pain could be a result of muscle pain in the neck, there is a chance that your brain also was snapped forward and back within your skull, causing pain and possible inflammation. If you are experiencing headaches, then it is crucial you seek out car accident treatment immediately.
