Orthopedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries and degenerative diseases among other disorders. Orthopedic surgeons can specialize in trauma related injuries and joint surgery as well as spine surgery.
