Chiropractic is a health care discipline that emphasizes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system that are trauma related or chronic in nature. Chiropractors emphasize the conservative management of the neuromusculoskeletal system without the use of medicines or surgery with special emphasis on the spine. The chiropractic discipline is grounded in the principle that the body can heal itself when the skeletal system is correctly aligned and the nervous system is functioning properly.
To achieve this, the practitioner uses his or her hands or an adjusting tool to perform specific manipulations of the vertebrae.
